If we can use the word 'psychedelic' in the 21st century, the grain of custom-milled Heart pine flooring is IT. Bold contrasts in the alternating tones of sapwood and heartwood make it a dynamic choice. This is a dense, durable wood. (For all flooring, we always suggest you order an extra 15% allowance and schedule delivery to the site at least two weeks prior to laying the floor.)

 

Mixed Grain Heart Pine The mixture of grain orientation in this grade--plus knots, nail holes and
bold color variations--makes it truly a floor of distinction. Characteristics: Large to medium knots,
all tight, brown in color. Mixed grain orientation means, some boards will be flat grain, some boards
will be vertical grain and some boards will be a combination of both.

Vertical Grain Heart Pine The honey tones, straight grain orientation and minimal knots give this
grade the textural uniformity often desired in contemporary design. Our vertical grain heart pine
flooring (and millwork) has the following characteristics: Infrequent small to medium knots, minimal light surface checking, small nail holes and nail stains. Straight grain orientation.
